We live in extraordinary times. The global pandemic and long-overdue reckoning around discrimination and racism have created significant shifts in career and work. This age of uncertainty presents both challenges and opportunities to career educators, practitioners, and researchers.
The theme for this year’s conference is “A Kaleidoscope of Career Interventions in an Age of Uncertainty”. It has been said that a kaleidoscope can be representative of life. When you look into the kaleidoscope you see a wondrous vision. Shaking it up destroying what is there presents a new image that though different, can be equally awe-inspiring. Through creativity and expertise, career professionals could be viewed as a kaleidoscope who assist people by putting together their disrupted forms and shapes in a fulfilling and meaningful way. A kaleidoscope is both an artistic and scientific instrument which parallels effective career support and research which is both creative and systematic.
We are a personally and professionally diverse group of professionals. Putting together our own forms and shapes creates a wide array of career interventions and research designed to address a continually evolving landscape of career development. Whether you are an advisor, coach, counselor, educator or researcher, you have an important voice in shaping our understanding of career development.
I greatly appreciate your interest in the 2021 NCDA Global Career Development Conference and hope you will consider participating in the upcoming conference. I look forward to learning of the great work occurring in the world of career development and wish you safety and well-being. Take care and hope to see you at our conference!
Dr. Seth C.W. Hayden
NCDA President, 2020-2021
After careful consideration, the NCDA Board of Directors has voted to host the 2021 NCDA Global Conference as a Virtual Event.
The pandemic continues to impact the ability to host a live event in June and the Board felt it best to proceed with a virtual option to make it accessible to all members across the globe. The results of the recent Conference Survey indicate barriers to participating in a live event, including travel bans, budget cuts, and general uneasiness with traveling and networking in the midst of the virus.
The new dates are June 29 - July 1, 2021 and the agenda for the event will be posted online. A new conference platform will be used and two new registration options (for a regular and enhanced CE package) will be available this year.
Thank you for your continued interest and support for NCDA
