Incorporating Mental Health, Wellness, and

Resilience into Career Conversations

Tuesday, August 24, 2021

12:00 - 2:00 pm

Dr. Laura Dowling will help us to explore recent developments in the practical neuroscience (brain science) of emotions and resilience, two wellness/mental health critical competencies needed to manage a career successfully.

We will explore the difference between wellness and mental health, including:

  • Addressing emotions (feelings), subjective states, and complex phenomena that determine an individual’s perception toward experience (good or bad). This results in a response that is either productive for an individual (growth and achievement) or unproductive (underdevelopment and inability to achieve goals).
  • Examining the brain/body mechanics of emotions, stress, and eustress, including what is occurring neurologically and biologically, and how to help clients change negative perspectives that present as obstacles to personal growth and achievement.

Participants will leave with a practical tool to help career practitioners gain insight into a client’s Mental Positioning System (MPS). This understanding of a client’s current emotional state and adaptability mindset enables improved career conversation outcomes with clients.

Session Pre-requisite: Registered participants should complete and score the “Mental Positioning System Assessment” before the webinar. Results will be explained during the session. Note: Participants will not need to share their scores.
