Just Telling a Story is So Yesterday. Play the Movie! - Gerry Lantz

Don’t put your audience to sleep with a mundane Situation-Action-Result story formula. Jolt them awake and move them to action with ABCD—Action-Backstory-Conflict/Climax-Destination. In this session, you will tell a success story using ABCD for an immersive and persuasive experience that seduces prospects into working with you. Along the way, Gerry will help you steal other Hollywood secrets to great storytelling: the “Telling Detail” in a character, the “Frodo Factor”, the “All is Lost Moment”—and as an extra bonus, you’ll learn “The 3X3 Plot” device that summarizes a complete story in 9 words! You will be called on to tell a story and you’ll have fun.

Gerry Lantz calls himself a “creative guy in a business suit.” He created STORIES THAT WORK®, which discovers, creates and delivers compelling strategies, branding, taglines, and marketing content—a trifecta that help his clients stand out in crowded marketplaces. His story tools can increase the emotion, persuasiveness, and differentiation that lay hidden in their product, service, or process. Gerry was a “Mad Man”, spending 24 years in New York at three global advertising agencies and as a Corporate Marketing Director. Gerry has received multiple industry awards for creativity and market effectiveness. Though Gerry spent most of his working life in New York City, he was born and raised in the Midwest where he raced a stock car on dirt tracks as a teenager. He still goes fast and clients think he has good ideas a mile-a-minute.

Turn Your Mess Into Your Keynote Success - Lu Ann Cahn

  • Learn how to use your messy life mistakes, losses and problems or survivorship to inspire and motivate your audience
  • Build credibility through your own authentic story and those of others
  • The audience 3Rs: Research, Relevance, Referrals

Lu Ann Cahn is the author of the inspirational memoir I Dare Me, an entertaining look back on a year that changed everything for her. The book grew out of a blog, “Year of Firsts,” which chronicled this veteran journalist, mother and survivor’s daily adventures as she pushed herself to try something new every single day to get her life “unstuck.” She was inspired by her daughter, Alexa, to go on this year-long adventure while working her full-time “day job” as an eight-time Emmy award-winning journalist with NBC10 News in Philadelphia.

Cahn’s journey eventually led to a major career change. In December 2014, she left her 40-year career in broadcast news to dare audiences across the country and help launch the next generation of communicators at Temple University. Cahn is currently the Director of Career Services for Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication.

Having worked for WCAU-TV for 27 years, Cahn is well known in the Greater Philadelphia Area. During that time, she filled many roles such as breaking news reporter, anchor and entertainment show host; however, arguably her most well-known role is that of a hard-charging investigative reporter with a talent for uncovering scandals and scams. In 2005, Lu Ann won a National Emmy for her undercover investigative story, “Dirty Little Secret,” an investigation about an illegal bar run by elected officials in their dry town.
