Many of us have worked with adult children whose parents are paying for the service, and some have even worked with spouses (and ex-spouses) who are paying for the service. Although the adult child (or spouse) is our primary focus and our work with them remains confidential, there may be situations where family involvement will become an integral part of the work (with signed releases and guidelines).
How does a clinician manage these interactions while keeping the client’s best interest at the forefront?
Hope Newman and Nancy Leighton will examine current ethical policies with the NCDA and the ACA and will discuss practical applications within the appropriate ethical frameworks.
They will present case studies and give participants a chance to share their own experiences working with client family members.
